INSURING YOUR INTERIOR DESIGN BUSINESS

We have listed below some of the more common insurance policies that should be considered in running an Interior Design business.

PUBLIC & PRODUCTS LIABILITY INSURANCE

Covering you for your liability to third parties (including clients and suppliers) for personal injury or property damage that arises during the course of your business activities.

Potential claims could include damaging your clients’ expensive furniture or artworks, or accidentally causing or contributing to the injury of a client or contractor.

PROFESSIONAL INDEMNITY INSURANCE

Covering you for your liability to third parties (including clients and suppliers) for their alleged financial loss arising out of your provision of professional services or advice.

Potential claims could come from a perceived loss of value or additional costs incurred by a client alleging an error or failure by you in meeting their brief or their expectations.

It is important to remember that a professional indemnity insurance policy will cover you for your liability and your legal expenses in defending a claim. You do not have to be found liable to be covered, and indeed this insurance can act as a safeguard against the financial consequences of emotion-driven or frivolous claims.

CYBER INSURANCE

Are you concerned about your IT systems being breached, or the impact of someone gaining access to your confidential information or the confidential information belonging to your clients? Is your business income reliant upon online sales and / or your website and social media being active and uncompromised?

If the answer is YES to any of the above questions, it may be appropriate for you to consider cyber insurance for your business.

PROPERTY INSURANCE (INCLUDING PORTABLE EQUIPMENT)

This insurance covers you for loss or damage to your property on a replacement / reinstatement basis.

Insurance can be purchased for fixed property (i.e. your furniture and office equipment, as well as any stock you have on hand, etc) and / or for portable equipment (such as laptops and mobile phones, etc) in respect of loss or damage whilst you are visiting clients and suppliers.

It may also be appropriate to consider other insurance policies as well. We would welcome the opportunity to assist you in this process.
